Cyber Essentials is a security certification to demonstrate that you have 5 key controls in place. These five key controls are; Boundary Firewalls & Internet Gateways, Secure Configuration, Access Control, Malware Protection and Patch Management. Cyber Essentials requires a self-assessment questionnaire, with the responses independently reviewed by an external certifying body.
Cyber Essentials Plus requires an independent assessment of your security controls, to verify that you do indeed have the 5 technical security controls in place. It will Involve a vulnerability scan, which will identify unpatched, or unsupported software, open ports and incorrect firewall configuration. There is also support for physical and technical controls in restricting access to third parties, such as clients and suppliers visiting your offices.

Silverbug's on-site service allows me to cost effectively extend support during the working day. With a recent network upgrade program, their Service Design team drew our attention to a possible weakness and persisted until this was 100% correct. This was really good.
With Silverbug's help, we've gone from the minor league to the Premier League in terms of our office IT. With our old solution, there were problems happening all the time and it could have fallen off a cliff at any time.
